Saturday at La Grande Rencontre in Montreal!

This is a very busy time for Le Vent du Nord, who are celebrating their 10th anniversary this year. On April 25, upon returning from a US tour, the band met Montrealers for a party to launch their new CD. Next they headed to Alaska for a tour, and last Monday performed a wonderful collaboration with the Canadian musician Harry Manx at CBC radio (see below link). Next Saturday, May 12, they will reunite with their scottish friends Breabach (with who they performed 20 concerts in Scotland and Quebec in 2010) at the 20th Annual La Grande Rencontre. Celebrating their 10th anniversary this year, the Québécois progressive folk band Le Vent du Nord is back with their seventh album, TROMPER LE TEMPS. The new album is available for digital download now. The band will celebrate with a new release party tomorrow, April 25th at 6pm at the Lion d’Or, Montréal. (US & Canada Street date: May 8. The first episode of a special radio-web series called RENDEZ-VOUS (link: http://www.cbc.ca/rendezvous) will feature Le Vent du Nord with Harry Manx. Together, they transformed each other’s music by simply being themselves. This was an amazingly warm and friendly musical meeting. The 19th Celtic Connections festival will present some of the biggest names in folk, roots, world, traditional, indie, blues and jazz performing in Glasgow next 2012 January and February. Programme highlights include the world premiere of the 10th anniversary show of the Québécois powerhouse Le Vent du Nord wich will be joined by Dervish, Breabach and Väsen next january 21st at the Glasgow Royal Concert Hall. ELISE, Le Vent du Nord’s first music video, finally unveiled!

Set in an imaginery universe, ‘Élise’ has a dream-like quality. The evocative song from Le Vent du Nord brings us a love story that remains timeless throughout the ages. 'Élise' was directed by We are good guys’ Pierre-Luc Racine and combines animation with real footage. The music is from Le Vent du Nord’s album LA PART DU FEU (Borealis Records, 2009), winner of the 2011 JUNO for Best Roots & Traditional Album.
