Yesterday, September 16, at the Banque Nationale’s head office in Montreal, the winners of the fourteenth annual awards ceremony of the SPACQ Foundation were announced. Honoured to receive the Edith Butler/Bell Media Award 2019, Le Vent du Nord had the opportunity to thank SPACQ for this prestigious recognition for its work as a songwriter and composer, as much for its warm welcome. Mrs. Edith Butler made the distinction very vividly and the group pointed out with great emotion that while it draws first on the traditional repertoire and memory of its nation, it is equally committed to composing to approach history from its point of view.

“It is a way of participating in the evolution of this music, which should not be a demonstration of what has been, but a living, moving music.
